Waterproofing

Cemplas Waterproofing services apply to new and existing basements. These are treated using cementitious (renders and slurries) and cavity drain processes. For localised repairs leak sealing by resin injection provides a cost effective treatment. Additionally, Cemplas offers sheet membrane processes for new basements. Deck waterproofing treatments use cold applied liquids using spray or trowel techniques to produce buried membranes. Car parks use similar treatments except the resulting membrane is not buried.

Waterproofing new and existing basements
New basement methods:

Cementitious (renders and slurries)
Cavity drain
Sheet membrane

Existing basement methods:

Cementitious (renders and slurries)
Cavity drain
Leak sealing by resign injection (for localised repairs)
Sheet membrane

There are four different grades of basement dryness (as referred to in BS 8102). Grade 4 is a totally dry environment suitable for the storage of archives and antiques. Grade 3 and 2 is for office and domestic use and Grade One is suitable for plant rooms where minor leaks are tolerable.
Water damage to subterranean structures is a highly contentious issue with many views about what is the best way to treat the problem. With many years of accumulated expertise, Cemplas understands that the optimum remedy will depend on a host of factors such as the:

age of the building (existing buildings only)
proximity to water courses
level of waterborne contaminants
condition of the existing masonry or brickwork
nature of the water ingress

A Cemplas diagnostic survey will identify the prevalent factors and take into account the causes of water ingress whether due to chemical erosion, building defects, poor maintenance or simply the absence of any damp proofing measures. The remedy will also depend on the intended use of the basement. If the existing structure is largely sound or to be built (new), Cemplas may recommend a cementitious tanking approach. If an existing basement is in poor condition, cavity drainage using a studded membrane and a pump to drain the water would be preferable. Localised problems would most likely be treated with resin injection. Cemplas will analyse the factors and recommend the optimum solution.
